Story
The author returns to his hometown of Lot, Jerusalem, in search of inspiration for his next book, only to find the townspeople being attacked by a bloodthirsty vampire. By Gary Dauberman 2019 told Den of Geek in June that his goal with the new version of Salem’s Lot was to make vampires scary again. He wants to move away from the more attractive, romanticized undead that have permeated pop culture over the past quarter-century, from Interview with the Vampire to Sunset to The Vampire Diaries.

I loved the book when I read it in the 80’s and was looking forward to the movie but was disappointed. I’m not a purist and I don’t usually mind different interpretations of a fictional story, but the changes weren’t really the worst part, it was the bland storytelling and the movie was just rushed. There was no character development, the acting was mediocre, although Alfre Woodard stood out and I wish she was in more because to me she was the best part of the movie, even though she was barely in it and I can’t say that enough.
Unfortunately, a completely forgettable film
Nothing really happened in the story that interested me. It would be nice to get a little bit of someone’s backstory, a look at the budding romance that would help us really feel the heartbreak of the main characters outside of the cheesy scenes. Not recommended.
